Radiance in the Newborns

Now is the time everything looks brilliant. I feel the pleasant breeze with fresh leaves and flowers swaying and bowing. Roses in my garden are about to bloom.

it unfurled now

                                                 What shall I call thee?
                                                 “I happy am.
                                                 Joy is my name”
                                                 Sweet joy befall thee!

                                                 Sweet joy I call thee.
                                                 Thou dost smile
                                                 I sing the while
                                                 Sweet joy befall thee!
(from Infant Joy by William Blake, thank you for introducing ,Ekaterina)

His fresh mom breastfeeds and holds him in her arms as often and as much as he wants. She uses cloth diapers to reuse them. To see cloth diapers being hung out brought back good old memories of mine.

in March

My husband and I wanted to plant a tree in celebration of his birth and came across 源平しだれ桃( weeping red and white peach tree). It has red and white and mixed colored blossoms from one single tree.

Peach flowers for a boy? Aren't they for girls for a peach festival? Oh, don’t forget there’s a famous fairy tale Momotaro, Peach Boy, who is courageous enough to go out to wipe out ogres.

Multi colored blossoms are frivolous? I don’t care. A combination of a red and white color gives a festive appearance and has been traditionally used in happy, congratulatory occasions such as a form of 饅頭(Japanese sweets) or a curtain whose pattern is vertical red and white stripe. We are looking forward to seeing this tree growing as he is .

A newborn infant is called Aka-chan (Dear Red) here because of their reddish skin, just like these young leaves of the maple tree.

Coo enjoys playing outside for a while; nosing around or chasing flies, ended up falling over flower beds, spoiling flowers...

    1. Thank you, haricot.
Actually when our daughter was born, we planted 八重桜 at our previous house, where brother-in-law's family are living now. It is still there.
      Enjoy balmy days, haricot.

  4. What a pretty baby! I think that the multi coloured blossoms are beautiful and it is such a good idea to buy a tree for him. I am sure he will be proud of it when he has grown up!

I, too, am very glad that Spring has come at last. Two weeks ago it seemed like winter.

Well, my sister and her husband are going on a trip to London next week. It's good to hear Spring has come at your part of the world now.
      Happy days ahead, Jenny.

  11. What a wonderful place your garden is!!! I always look around my neighbourhood for such "happy patches" with lots of flowers and colours! And they give me such a feeling of joy!
I believe that your grandson will come to love his tree just BECAUSE it is not only white, but a delightful combination of white, pink and red!Like an invitation to have a nice character...
Thank you for visiting my blog; I admit I have been rather lazy this past year and did not post at all....but I have to get over it and show my fresh crop of photos meant to "idolize" Spring!

  14. Dear Keiko,
How sweet and flourishing your grandson is! Time flies so quickly, I can't believe how much he has grown already. It feels like yesterday the day he was born... And now, celebrating a new life by planting another. What a great choice, Keiko, I'm sure this two coloured weeping peach tree will bring your grandson health and good fortune in life! Red for a strong character, white for a pure heart.
Though I'm sure it is more difficult like this, I liked to hear your daughter uses cloth diapers (I have a friend doing the same). It's good to see how people rediscover positive aspects in doing some things the old-fashioned way.
Your garden looks marvelous and so is your header! So vibrant, so vivid and rich, so inviting I completely understand Coo playing and... testing every flower in it. I feel like kissing his curious, naughty nose. :)

I'm very happy to see you are doing fine and I wish you sunny days ahead!

To see my daughter dealing with a baby makes me feel she got mature, more mature than I! Thank you for your lovey words to Coo. In his shy streak, he will pretend to be blunt, though.
      Lovely days ahead, Roxana.

  18. Oh, how sweet cosmos, you grandson is blessed with such a lovely cute smile! Spreading cheer all around just like the pretty rose, the peach tree or the multi colored blossoms. I wish him and all the family lots of joy and happiness in the growing years and beyond, always. Lovely hue of the maple leaves, a perfect compliment to the new born -- both in color and in tender delicateness. A glimpse of Coo at the end of the post just broadened my smile, I cant imagine him doing anything other but jumping on the flowers and spoiling them! :)

Wish you happy joyful days, cosmos. Take care. :)

Coo is a few years senior to the baby, he was trying to keep his eyes on the baby by sitting around him, almost dozing off though ^ ^

Have a lovely week ahead, Arti.

  20. Wow, how beautiful the roses! Your plan to plant climbing roses in front of the bay window is so successful! You really have a green thumb, cosmos.

Our roses are poor this year (or as always?), though they have their own beauty and they look enough lovely. My husband and I didn’t do anything but pruning or fertilizing as we want our garden safe to our little Fu.

I look forward to seeing your roses in person maybe in autumn or next year.
